Atlanta and Emeryville, CA -- Cingular Wireless and MobiTV, Inc. today announced the availability of the MobiRadio(TM) service for Cingular subscribers. Now, for the first time in the US market, wireless customers can listen to more than 40 channels of high quality commercial free digital music streamed directly to their mobile phones using the programming expertise of Music Choice.
MobiRadio will offer dozens of interruption-free audio music channels programmed by Music Choice, the premier music network. The channel line-up features a wide variety of popular music genres, including Urban, Rock, and Country, in addition to Electronica, Reggae, Jazz, and Classical. The Music Choice channels are updated regularly so subscribers hear a never ending stream of great music from both established and emerging artists.
In the coming months, Cingular and MobiTV expect to expand the services offered through MobiRadio by integrating the ability to instantly purchase related ringtones and other associated content as the music plays directly from the customer's Cingular phone.
"We are excited to begin our foray into wireless radio with MobiTV's new service, MobiRadio, which gives our customers 44 channels of high quality music from which to choose." MobiRadio on Cingular is currently available on the Nokia 6620, Sony Ericsson S710 and Z500a, but will be available on additional handsets soon. The cost is $6.99 a month plus kilobyte usage.
