Motorola India Announces Trio of Firsts
Posted: 16-Nov-2005 [Source: Motorola]

[Trio of announcements includes the Motorola C115 will have a "Made in India" label, the new Motorola L6 handset debuts today in India, and Motorola and Bharti Teletech established a strategic relationship to extending Motorola's market presence in India.]

New Delhi -- Motorola today announced a series of important firsts to help drive the company's growth in India. Specifically, Motorola announced the C115, one of the company's hottest-selling handsets, will now have a "Made in India" label, a first for the company. Motorola also announced that it has selected India as the first market to launch its new ultra-sleek and ultra-chic Motorola L6 mobile handset. And, in a move to drive rapid expansion and brand presence by connecting the nation's unconnected, Motorola is to establish a strategic relationship with Bharti Teletech Ltd. for Motorola's full range of mobile handsets and accessories.

Motorola C115 will get "Made-In-India" label

Motorola's hot-selling and hugely popular C115 mobile handset will get a new label reading "Made-In-India," the first ever for a Motorola mobile handset. The company expects the first Motorola C115 handsets assembled in India will be available by mid-December this year. The compact and stylish C115 is designed for mass-market users and features outstanding battery life and compelling personalization tools. Assembly in India is the first step in a multi-phase manufacturing strategy being deployed by Motorola in India.

Ultra-sleek, ultra-chic Motorola L6 premieres in India

In a world premiere from India (another first for the company) Motorola has launched the newest MOTO "must have" the highly anticipated, ultra-slim and ultra-chic Motorola L6 mobile handset. Expected to be a game-changer worldwide for the popular candy-bar form factor, the Motorola L6 delivers a first for Motorola, for India and for the industry. Following its launch in India, the Motorola L6 will roll out in other markets in due course through a series of announcements. Meanwhile, across India, the Motorola L6 is on sale starting today.

The ultra-slim Motorola L6 leverages the award-winning attributes of the Motorola RAZR, the world's best-selling clamshell design. Measuring just 10.9mm and weighing just 86 grams, the chiseled and sleek Motorola L6 handset looks fantastic and packs a significant feature set, including an integrated VGA camera for video recording, Bluetooth connectivity and a digital audio player.

Strategic Relationship with Bharti Teletech another first in Motorola's push to expand

In yet another first, Motorola has also announced that it is to establish a strategic relationship with handset distributor Bharti Teletech Ltd. which is expected to extend Motorola's brand and product presence across India. Bharti's more than 11,000 distribution channels will help Motorola reach a wide customer base extending beyond urban centers and into rural communities. The strategic relationship enhances Motorola's drive and commitment to connect the unconnected in the world's rapidly growing markets.
