Seattle -- With the start of the Winter Olympics comes the desire to stay up to date on the latest medal counts, event updates, and athlete stories. Traditional ways of staying up to date include the PC and newspaper. To this list add one more source -- the mobile phone. Using Mobilcast(TM), mobile phone users in the United States and Canada can get regular updates about the games, directly to their phones without first having to go online. Mobilcast is available in the United States at www.mobilcast.com. Canadian customers get Mobilcast through Rogers Wireless, www.rogers.com/podcasts.
To get Olympic updates, Mobilcast customers simply launch Mobilcast on their mobile phones and go to the Olympic Update channel. There they will find a selection of podcasts about the Winter Games, including a daily medal count and "Fan590 Road to Turin Update," produced by Fan590 radio in Toronto. In addition, Mobilcast listeners can register to receive alerts when the podcasts are updated, making it faster and easier to stay up to date.
"People everywhere follow the Olympics, but it's hard to do it when you aren't at your PC all day," said Stan Sorensen, senior director of product marketing at Melodeo. "Using Mobilcast, Olympic fans in the U.S. and Canada can follow the progress of the games when they want, on the one device they carry all the time. We're proud to be able to provide this unique service."
