Kuala Lumpur -- Fifth Media Sdn. Bhd. announced today that the new AXIA A308 PDA Phone will be unveiled to the international market at the CeBIT exhibition in Hannover next month. Described as being a quad-band device offering GSM, GPRS and EDGE connectivity, the AXIA 308 also features Wifi connectivity. It is also the world's smallest PDA Phone on the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 operating system.

"The AXIA A308 represents an obvious next step in mobile device consolidation. The device user gets full access to traditional cellular services from just about anywhere in the world, with its quad-band capabilities. Its compact size and built-in Wifi will set this device apart as a business tool," said Mr. Bernard Bowiz, Chief Technical Adviser of Fifth Media Sdn. Bhd. "With the increasing proliferation of Wifi hotspots, the AXIA A308 will also offer a more cost effective way for users to access the Web," adds Mr. Bowiz.

Besides quad-band and Wifi connectivity, the AXIA A308 is also Bluetooth- and IrDA-enabled to facilitate short-range communications. Meanwhile, the device's Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 operating system provides an effective platform to deliver on its full PDA functions.

The made-in-Malaysia AXIA A308 is the latest model in the AXIA range of PDA phones. The Malaysian-made AXIA range of PDA phones is unique in that they combine the compact and familiar form-factor of a regular mobile phone with full PDA functions. Targeted at a specific niche in the mobile device market -- the bridging segment between Smartphones and PDA-size devices, the AXIA's form factor and pricing makes it particularly appealing for voice-centric device users to upgrade to a single device that also offer PDA functionalities.

The first AXIA PDA Phone, the A108, was well-received when it was introduced at last year's CeBIT exhibition. The device offers tri-band connectivity and is the world's smallest PDA Phone on the Microsoft Windows CE .NET platform.

"We believe that the AXIA A308's debut in CeBIT next month will garner considerable interest. The device is targeted at the international market, especially Europe, where Wifi networks are already widely available," said Mr. Julius Grohe, Fifth Media's Director of Global Sales. "During the exhibition, we hope to reach out to major telcos to adopt the product, as well as importers to take the device into their home markets.

"There are no devices currently in the market that delivers on the AXIA A308's unique proposition of being a compact PDA Phone with Wifi capabilities. Furthermore, the pricing of the AXIA A308 will make the device very attractive," adds Mr. Grohe.
