Panasonic Computer Solutions Company today announced that select rugged and semi-rugged Panasonic Toughbook notebook computers have been certified for use on the next generation EV-DO wireless network of Alltel.
With this announcement, the rugged, MIL-STD-810F-tested Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 notebook PC and Toughbook CF-18 convertible tablet, as well as the semi-rugged CF-73 notebook, become the first mobile computers certified for use on the rapidly growing Alltel EV-DO network.
Unlike many vendors, which only provide wireless connectivity as an add-on feature through PC cards, Panasonic engineers wireless technology into each unit. In this case, Panasonic has achieved certification of the embedded Sierra Wireless EM5625 modem, which was factory tested to ensure optimal wireless data quality. The addition of Alltel EV-DO connectivity builds on a history of wireless leadership at Panasonic.
"Information on the move is information at risk and Panasonic helps organizations mitigate that risk by delivering wireless solutions specifically engineered to withstand the test of true mobility," said Victoria Obenshain, director, wireless strategy, Panasonic Computer Solutions Company. "Achieving this certification with Alltel and adding them to our list of approved carriers opens up more options for our customers to gain reliable access to high quality data networks, wherever their work takes them."
