Berkeley -- Phonified today announced that Phonified Mail[E], a mobile tool that communicates with the Microsoft Exchange email server, is now available for Nokia S60 (2nd Release). Mail[E] allows individuals to access their corporate email from their cell phones, and is targeted at on- the-go professionals who want to read and respond to their email while on the road. Mail[E] can be downloaded for $19.95 at
The latest release is designed for handheld devices using Symbian OS, including the Nokia 3230, Nokia 6260, Nokia 7610, Nokia 6600, Nokia 6620, Nokia 6630, Nokia 6670, Nokia 6680, Nokia 6681, Nokia 6682, Nokia N70 and Nokia N90 models.
Phonified CEO Dr. James Storey says that, "We are excited to make Mail[E] available on Symbian, so now millions of users with Nokia Smart-phones can read and respond to their corporate email even if their company hasn't deployed a high-end push email system."
For the carrier, Mail[E] provides a compelling reason for subscribers to sign up for a data plan. Mail[E] can be offered to those users not currently served by the carrier's enterprise solutions, such as employees of small and medium businesses that have not made the commitment to deploy a push-based mobile email solution. Mail[E] is a low-cost application with no recurring subscription fees, so carriers can capture new data users without also incurring long-term revenue sharing with an email service provider. Furthermore, while Mail[E] runs well on 2.5G networks, the performance and capabilities are enhanced on a 3G network, providing an incentive for customers to upgrade to 3G service.
