Vodafone K.K. announces new handsets and new name

[Vodafone announces that its summer lineup with include the 905SH by Sharp, the 705T by Toshiba, the 705SH SLIMIA by Sharp, and the Vodafone 804NK/Nokia N71, the V304T by Toshiba and new color versions of the V403SH.]

Vodafone K.K. today announces that on 1 October 2006 it will change its company name to SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp. The brand will also migrate from Vodafone to SOFTBANK, and the corporate logo will shift entirely to the design used by SOFTBANK Group companies.

Vodafone K.K. also announced its summer lineup will include the following handsets -

Vodafone 905SH:

*Capable of receiving "One Seg" terrestrial digital and analogue TV broadcasts. Industry's longest continuous digital TV viewing of approximately 4 hours

*"Cycloid Style" 90 degree rotating LCD optimal for watching TV

*AQUOS Mobile with Mobile ASV LCD, based on technology in Sharp's AQUOS LCD TVs

*Industry's first handset to enable recording of TV programmes to memory cards (sold separately). Possible to record shows at preset times using electronic programme guide appli

*Industry's first handset to allow customers to message and make calls while watching TV

Vodafone 705T:

*Collaborative model with pre-installed wallpapers, menu screens and mail animations produced by fashion brand STNY by Samantha Thavasa.

*Palm-sized compact body with exterior Music Console for easy music listening while the handset is closed, and stereo twin speakers. Long-lasting battery allows 8 hours of continuous music playback.

Vodafone 705SH SLIMIA

*Light, slim and stylish design with elegant texture and colouring. Features 2.2-inch Mobile ASV LCD, 2 megapixel camera and memory card slot in a slim body measuring approximately 17mm.

*Supports the latest Vodafone K.K. 3G services, including Vodafone live! CAST, Near Chat and short-distance communication Near Games that use Bluetooth technology, and Vodafone Address Book.

Vodafone 804NK/Nokia N71

*Simple and elegant clamshell model with 2 megapixel camera and range of entertainment features, including a music player and FM radio tuner.

*Smartphone model uses the latest Symbian OS. Features PC website viewer and document viewer for reading Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel files, and other business documents.

V304T

*New Simple Mode (tentative name) features large font displays, easy-to-understand menus, and simplified operations, making the handset suitable for beginners and mature users. Convex number keys are also easy to see and press.

*Slide Switch (tentative name) makes it convenient to quickly change modes while the handset is closed so customers can easily switch to Silent Mode when on trains and Offline Mode when in hospitals.

V403SH (new colours)

*Chic colours, and modern and compact design for refined tastes.

*Mobile ASV LCD and 2 megapixel CCD camera for crisp displays and photography. Enriched basic functions for greater ease-of-use.
