LG Mobile claims number two spot in US sales

[LG secured number the number two ranking for sales of mobile phones Q306 in the U.S. by shipping 7 million handsests during the quarter.]

San Diego -- According to recently released mobile phone market share data from Strategy Analytic's Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A., Inc. (LG Mobile Phones) has secured the number two ranking for sales of mobile phones in the United States in Q3 2006, shipping 7 million handsets for the quarter.

ANZEIGE In addition to increasing shipment market share in the North America to 17.2% in all technologies, LG increased its dominance in the global handset market, once again securing the number one spot for global CDMA sales for the quarter. Global CDMA sales for LG were 10.5 million units vaulting LG to 23.5% market share worldwide.

"As LG Mobile Phones continues to produce innovative handsets that meet the demand of the current consumer marketplace, we are proud to have secured the number two spot for phone shipments in North America," said Juno Cho, president, LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A., Inc. "LG's CDMA sales have maintained strong momentum in the third quarter of 2006 and our steady expansion into the GSM market is being met with encouraging results. Highly successful LG models launched in Q3 2006 include the stylish Chocolate by LG and LG FUSIC music phones as well as the speedy LG CU500 world capable HSDPA handset and the LG VX8300.
