Sunnyvale, CA -- VisualOn is able to fulfill the requirements of next generation technologies like Mobile TV, with a solution that now works seamlessly with AMD's ImageonTV DVB-H/T demodulators. The two companies have enabled exceptional playback quality on Mobile TV handsets for DVB-H broadcast of H.264 content with AAC+ audio.
"At AMD, we have world-class expertise in multimedia processing, including digital TV RF and broadcast receiver technologies. Our next generation Mobile TV solutions are being designed to offer excellent DVB-H performance to bring compelling broadcast services to the consumer, with the goal of making Mobile TV a reality," said Mark Bapst, CTO, Consumer Electronics Handheld Division. "Our partnership with VisualOn allows us to broaden our offerings with a software Mobile TV A/V solution we believe to be suitable for existing platforms with application processors."
The VisualOn software Mobile TV solution parses the IP stream from AMD's ImageonTV DVB-H/T demodulator and decodes the H.264 video and AAC+ audio content for playback on the mobile device. It enables Mobile TV on host based platforms, such as SmartPhones and PDAs, where a hardware H.264 capable media processor is not available.
"VisualOn is pleased to have the opportunity to work with a company like AMD. Because of AMD's history and also its recent acquisition of ATI Technologies, they clearly understand the importance of quality video and audio to the consumer," said Yang Cai, President of VisualOn. "While VisualOn will always focus on multimedia quality, we also put significant engineering into power efficiency, which we believe helps to increase customer satisfaction within the Mobile TV market."
