Montreal -- In a first for the Canadian mobile communications marketplace, a new Nokia phone is making its North American debut with Fido. With clean styling and a compact size, the Nokia 6300 mobile phone is sure to make a simply beautiful first impression.

"As a young and urban brand, Fido is bound to be the first to introduce the Nokia 6300 in North America," says Patrick Hadsipantelis, Vice President, Fido Marketing. "The bar is back! And this sleek, stylish yet so simple to use bar-phone reflects the essence of our brand: it is smart from every angle" adds Patrick Hadsipantelis.

Inspired by simple pleasures, the handset is modern and sophisticated and has five key design elements: stainless steel covers, clean lines and recessed buttons, simplicity of graphic symbols, organic elements including rounded edges, and finally, a compact size that naturally fits into one's hand. At the same time, like all design classics, the Nokia 6300 handset is also a practical tool with functions and features intended to make everyday life easier and more enjoyable.

Weighing a mere 91 grams and measuring less than 13.1mm thin, the Nokia 6300 proves that features and functions don't have to be compromised for a thin, bar-style design. One of the thinnest mobile phones available in Canada, the Nokia 6300 offers a robust range of easy-to-use features, including a 2 megapixel camera with zoom, expandable memory, a built-in MP3 player, and an FM radio. Users will never miss a beat with the Nokia 6300 - at the heart of the handset is a subtle blue light that alerts users to text and voice messages and missed calls.

The Nokia 6300 combines styling, fit, and finish, including high-end materials, into a package that is typically unaffordable to many consumers. "Based on the design of the Nokia 6300 and the materials used, a handset like this would typically cost several hundred dollars," said Paul Chapple, General Manager, Nokia Canada. "It is amazing that Fido's customers have exclusive North American access to the Nokia 6300 at such a low price. It is definitely a sign of how dedicated Fido is to its customer base."

With a crisp and detailed 16.7 million true colours display, the Nokia 6300 makes it easy for consumers to navigate the following features and functions:

- 2 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom

- MP3 player and FM radio

- Integrated Bluetooth wireless technology

- USB/PC synchronization with Nokia PC Suite, available free of charge for download at www.nokia.ca

- In-box memory of 512 MB, with support for up to 2GB microSD cards

- Voice dialling, voice commands, and voice recording

- Integrated hands-free speaker

The Nokia 6300 is available exclusively at Fido outlets, retail partners and on-line at fido.ca for $100 with a three-year Fido Agreement. For additional information, please visit fido.ca. Fido is a registered trademark of Fido Solutions Inc.
