UbiquiSys has been ranked at the top of the latest Vendor Matrix released by ABI Research.Alcatel-Lucent and ip.access claimed the second and third spots in the company's latest evaluation of worldwide femtocell box vendors.
The Vendor Matrix is an analytical tool developed by ABI Research to provide a clear understanding of vendors' positions in specific markets.
"This fluid market continues to see manufacturers shuffle as early RFP and trial activity takes hold," notes vice president and research director Stuart Carlaw. "Interestingly, major players in this market such as Cisco, Motorola, NEC, and Nokia are not represented in the matrix as they are positioning themselves as complete solution providers and have chosen not to produce their own products but to partner instead with dedicated box vendors."
Vendors are assessed by ABI Research on the important parameters of "innovation" and "implementation" across several criteria unique to each vendor matrix.
For this particular matrix, under "innovation," ABI Research examined cost, the efficiency of macro network interference techniques, the presence of a standards-compliant network interface, scaleability, plug-and-play solution maturity, service security, Hand In/HandOut performance, intelligent architectures, the presence of integrated Wi-Fi, multimode cellular support, an IMS upgrade path, the inclusion of an integrated TV Set-Top Box, a future-proof upgrade path, and the presence of integrated Broadband gateway/routers.
Under "implementation," ABI Research scrutinized the following criteria: ecosystem partnerships for an end-to-end solution; market and RFP activity; the vendor's ability to scale and commoditize quickly; its carrier relationships, and its overall financial and organizational health.
