Costa Mesa, CA -- The CDMA Development Group (CDG) today announced that many of the world's leading CDMA operators are looking forward to providing their wireless customers with seamless roaming services during the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, China. In partnership with China Unicom, these CDMA operators enable the delivery of high-quality CDMA2000(r) 1X voice, messaging and data services that their customers will need to communicate while in China and stay connected with friends and family back home.

``With over half a million International sports spectators expected to attend Beijing this August, roaming services for CDMA provide a critical link not only for staying connected with others at the games, but also staying informed to make the experience enjoyable,'' said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG. ``In the spirit of borderless cooperation and International unity that are the hallmarks of the Summer Games, CDMA roaming allows visitors from across the globe to access the mobile communications services they need to enjoy and share their experiences.''

More than 20 CDMA operators will provide roaming services to customers traveling to China this summer from countries including Brazil, Canada Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, Thailand, the U.S. and Vietnam.

China Unicom will offer 24-hour telephone customer service support throughout the Summer Games at 10010 and information service at 10191. Additionally, CDMA operators urge customers embarking for China to confirm that International roaming is enabled on their devices, and advise them to download the latest Preferred Roaming List (PRL) software over the air prior to departing. Instructions are available by contacting their respective CDMA operator, and additional roaming fees may apply.

CDMA roaming is a priority for the CDG's International Roaming Team (IRT), which facilitates the deployment of wireless roaming services around the world. The IRT's activities include developing open standards and interfaces for CDMA International roaming, working with individual carriers to understand and deploy International roaming infrastructure, and developing documentation that will serve as reference for carriers preparing to roam with other CDMA carriers. More information on CDMA is available at http://www.cdg.org/roaming.
