Motorola Expands iDEN Portfolio With Leading Push-to-Talk Technology

Libertyville, IL -- Motorola, Inc. continues to work with wireless carriers nationally and globally including Sprint to deliver quality products and services to its customer base using the integrated digital enhanced network (iDEN) technology.

Over the past 15 years, iDEN phones have evolved from large, rugged designs geared for heavy-duty industrial uses to a variety of devices applicable to many user groups offering competitive features. This includes integrated cameras, speakerphones, Java technology, and more -- while still offering the two-way radio iDEN users have come to depend on, and with the durability to withstand heavy use. Sleeker, more innovative designs and expanded features have increased appeal within many industries, from outside sales forces to executive board rooms to consumers.

"Our iDEN customers want instant, sub-second, reliable connections, and we are committed to continue offering this unique experience to them," said Rick Gadd, vice president, Motorola Mobile Devices. "It is the core functionality of iDEN technology that has maintained a loyal base of customers, while also expanding to other key industries and markets."

Motorola's expanded portfolio of iDEN push-to-talk (PTT) compatible phones address needs in a wide variety of industries, including construction, manufacturing, transportation and fleet management, which depend on iDEN devices for reliable communications. Motorola has launched several high-quality handsets during 2008 to complement the secure, reliable iDEN network that supports them.

Most recently, Motorola's i365 helps business customers get the job done while on the go by enabling push-to-talk (PTT) users to stay in constant contact with multiple colleagues by using robust communication services such as push-to-talk(1), Selective Dynamic Group Call(1), International Push-to-Talk(1,2) and MOTOtalk®. Certified for military specification(2) requirements including humidity, blowing rain, shock and vibration, the i365 is also GPS enabled(1) and supports Bluetooth® wireless technology for hands-free connectivity to compatible devices. In North America, the i365 is available at Sprint in select sales channels for as low as $89.99 with a two-year service agreement. Additional discounts are available for eligible business customers.

Motorola will also debut additional iDEN handsets in the coming months, including:

* Motorola i576 - Allows customers to access the benefits of push-to-talk(1), as well as Bluetooth wireless technology and GPS(1) all in an ultra-rugged form factor and at an attractive price $79.99 with a two-year service agreement and a $50 mail-in-rebate ($129.99 - $50.00 = $79.99). Additional discounts are available for eligible business customers.

* Motorola i776 - Sporting a durable clamshell design, the i776 blends best-in-class push-to-talk service productivity-enhancing features(1) and includes a VGA camera, messaging(1), and Bluetooth wireless technology. The i776 will be available later this year in North America from Sprint - for as low as $79.99 with a two-year service agreement - and in South America through NII Holdings, Inc., in the markets they operate within the region.

In addition to Sprint and NII Holdings, many of Motorola's iDEN carriers worldwide, such as Boost Mobile (North America), SouthernLINC Wireless (U.S.), MIRS Communications, Ltd. (Israel), KT Powertel (South Korea), Bravo (Saudi Arabia) and Procall PVT (India), among others, will also be offering all or some of these devices, as well as other devices to come.

"Sprint customers depend upon the reliability of our network, and the iDEN technology to get the information they need, when and where they need it. This is why we continue to invest in the Nextel National Network, offer a robust portfolio of devices with newer devices launching in 2009 and remain committed to supporting Nextel Direct Connect, our industry-leading push-to-talk service that now operates on both of our wireless networks," says Danny Bowman, president of Nextel Direct Connect for Sprint.

"NII and Motorola have a long-standing partnership that has brought high-performance wireless solutions based on the iDEN network to millions of our high-value customers in Latin America, said Greg Santoro, chief marketing and strategy officer, NII Holdings. "Our customers demand instant and innovative communications solutions, and our continued investment and commitment to iDEN enables us to meet those demands today and for years to come."

Motorola and NII Holdings (Latin America) recently announced the launch of the new Melody network, Motorola's next-generation iDEN dispatch and telephone interconnect core switching platform, in Chile. Not only does the platform provide customers in Chile with the reliability of push-to-talk, but it also has the ability to elegantly scale up in capacity over time to serve several million dispatch and interconnect subscribers and to expand to more than 1,000 cell sites. NII also plans on launching additional iDEN handsets tailored to the Latin America market during 2008.
