San Diego -- Cricket Communications, Inc, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leap Wireless International, Inc., today announced that it is adding the Nokia 1606 flip phone to its portfolio of AWS-capable wireless devices. Highly usable and durable, the Nokia 1606 is a great handset for consumers looking for enhanced features like Mobile WEB, Games & Apps and text in a slim, sturdy package with a brilliant internal color display. The 1606 also features a hinge-mounted flashlight, an integrated speakerphone and PC contact synchronization.

“Our Cricket customers value the functionality and ergonomics Nokia is famous for,” said Sergio Garcia, senior director, devices and logistics for Cricket. “The 1606 makes it easy for customers to take advantage of their unlimited plans, and they will really enjoy its unique and thin form factor.”

The 1606 includes an internal antenna, a 128x160 262K color TFT internal display, a 96x32 monochrome external display, a voice memo recorder, and SMS/MMS with predictive text. The device supports talk time of up to 3.5 hours and standby time of up to 11 days—and weighs a mere 2.68 ounces.

“Nokia is pleased to offer the 1606 to Cricket’s customers,” said Dirk Williamson, Nokia’s vice president, North America carrier sales. “Cricket’s unlimited plans make these customers some of the most active, dynamic users in the global market, and users whom we believe will be able to take advantage of the 1606’s outstanding features.”

The 1606 is immediately available at Cricket retail stores and Cricket dealers for $129.99. For more information, please visit a local Cricket retail location, or online visit www.mycricket.com or http://nokia.us.
