Shenzhen, China -- ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and networking has announced at the GSMA World Mobile Congress Barcelona 2010 that its global GSM sales continued to grow fast in 2009, with a shipment of over 750,000 carrier frequencies in the past year. As its share in newly added worldwide markets rose to almost 20%, ZTE is now one of the top 3 equipment vendors in the industry. In 2009, ZTE successfully sold its GSM products to world-class multinational operators such as Telenor, Teliasonera and Cell C, making large-scale advancements in European and emerging markets.

Recently, research conducted by Frost & Sullivan showed that GSM continues to drive mobile subscriptions’ growth in major markets. Global GSM accounts for 83.5 percent of global mobile subscribers and this large proportion has persisted for a long time. Up to 2009, there were over 3.93 billion GSM, WCDMA-HSPA subscribers worldwide.

From 2004 to 2009, ZTE’s GSM product sales maintained growth of over 100% each year, obtaining the fastest growth in the industry. ZTE’s GSM products are distributed in over 70 countries and regions including mainland China, Hong Kong (China), South Africa, Russia, India, Indonesia and Algeria.

In 2008, ZTE was the first to introduce the SDR series of GU dual-mode base stations, which supports both GSM and multiple mobile technologies. With advanced framework, high performance and outstanding price/performance ratio, this base station series truly achieves seamless integration and smooth evolution. In June 2009, ZTE’s SDR base station won the GTB Innovation Award, a prestigious award in the industry.
