|Microsoft Alleges Barnes & Noble Infringed on Software Patents|

[Microsoft files suit in federal court alleging Barnes & Noble and specific business partners violated patents relating to the Android software loaded on the Barnes & Noble Nook and Color Nook.]
By Jean Whitinger (Mobile Tech News) -- Microsoft has filed suit in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington at Seattle citing 'Complaint for Patent Infringement - Jury Demanded.'
The defendants include Barnes & Noble, Inc., Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd; Foxconn International Holdings Ltd; Foxconn Electronics, Inc.; Foxconn Precision component (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd; and Inventec Corporation.
The court documents state, "On information and belief, Defendants are engaged in the design, manufacture, sale within the United States, offering for sale in the United States, use within the United States, and/or sale after importation into the United States of handheld electronic computing devices utilizing the Android operating system, including related software, and components thereof. On information and belief, Defendants market and sell these devices worldwide through their channel business partners and various retailers,including through retail stores and company websites."
The suit pertains specifically to Android software loaded onto the Barnes & Noble Nook and Nook Color computing devices.
Microsoft is asking for a declaration that the Defendants have infringed on the Microsoft patents listed in the suit, compensatory damages, plus expenses, costs, and attorneys fees.
