Rogers LTE network is now live in more cities surrounding Toronto and Vancouver

[Today more than eight million Canadians have access to Rogers LTE network]

Toronto -- Today, Rogers Communications Inc. announced that Canada's largest and fastest Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless network service is now available in more cities in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding Vancouver . Rogers was first to launch a LTE network this summer in Ottawa followed by Toronto , Montreal and Vancouver .

The Rogers LTE network offers mobile speeds similar to broadband connections and is now live in more cities in the Greater Toronto Area . The Rogers LTE network is now live in Mississauga , and Rogers is first to offer an LTE network to residents in Brampton , Vaughan , Richmond Hill , and Markham . Surrounding Vancouver , Rogers is the first to offer access to an LTE network to the communities of West Vancouver , North Vancouver , Port Coquitlam , Delta , Langley , Surrey and Maple Ridge .

"Today more Rogers customers from the east and west can experience the future of fast as we continue to expand the gold standard wireless network technology, the Rogers LTE network to more Canadian cities surrounding Toronto and Vancouver ," said John Boynton , Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Rogers Communications. "We are proud to be first to offer the LTE network to more cities in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding Vancouver ."

Rogers is the first to offer Canadians the new LTE Rocket™ mobile hotspot (Sierra Wireless AirCard® 754S). The Rocket mobile hotspot allows customers to connect up to five laptops, gaming units, music players and more at LTE speeds. Also available, two LTE smartphones, the Rogers exclusive Samsung Galaxy S II LTE smartphone™ and the HTC Raider™, the Rogers exclusive HTC Jetstream™ LTE tablet and the Rogers LTE Rocket stick (Sierra Wireless AirCard ® 313U).

Rogers was the first Canadian carrier to start conducting technical trials last fall, with commitment to a multi-year deployment that began with Canada's first LTE launch in Ottawa , followed by Toronto , Montreal , Vancouver and now many surrounding cities. Rogers LTE network will expand to more than 30 per cent of the population by the end of 2011.

The national launch of LTE reinforces Rogers proud history of innovative firsts and commitment to investing in Canada's digital future. Rogers was the first carrier in North America to launch a HSPA+ network; the first carrier in Canada to launch GSM; the first in the world to launch BlackBerry® devices; and the first in Canada to launch both Android products and the iPhone.
