[The German wireless provider, E-Plus, announced today that it is offering, in cooperation with Compaq and Siemens, a Mobile Internet "Mini Office".]

English translation by WAPsight -- Effective immediately E-Plus in cooperation with Compaq and Siemens is offering a "Mini Office" for Mobile Internet. The complete package supports WAP services. The package consists of the Compaq Aero 1500 organizer with a built in WAP Browser and the Siemens S25 Wireless Phone, and is packaged with the E-Plus "Time&More" Calling Plan.

The S25 Wireless Phone receives WAP pages via a GSM connection and sends them over an infrared connection to the display on the 143 gram Windows CE computer. The pair can support email, sms, and fax communications. The S25 also implements directly, an early version of WAP which is not being supported in Germany, and therefore, this mode is disabled.

Compaqs pocket PC features 16 Mb memory. It's display is mono and measures about 10cm diagonally making it larger than the average WAP Phone display. Also supported are calendar and notepad applications.

The package is priced at 999DM and will be available in "selected stores". A WAP minute costs 0.39DM. Normal talktime is charged as per the selected calling plan. Setup of the WAP services are free.
