Philadelphia -- "Bluestone(R) Softare Inc., (NASDAQ:BLSW) a leader in business-to-Web and wireless technologies, has been selected by Mviva to provide its Total-e-Server(TM) as the e-business platform for a new online portal targeting users of WAP phones. The Mviva portal, a joint venture by AOL and Carphone Warehouse, is intended to provide a full range of information services for all Carphone Warehouse customers and mobile phone users in general. The contract means that Bluestone will provide Mviva with a fully integrated, scaleable, fault tolerant e-business solution, capable of providing a personal service to Mviva customers.
"The Mviva portal, powered by Bluestone's Total-e-Server, provides WAP phone users with one central point from which to source information relevant to their needs. Through a network of content partners Mviva will provide a personalized service, relaying news, sports, travel, weather, online retail, stock trading, banking and unified messaging information, direct to the customer's mobile. As a part owned subsidiary of the Carphone Warehouse, the portal places great emphasis on customer care and service personalization. Customers purchasing a phone via any Carphone Warehouse store will automatically be able to select from the variety of options offered by Mviva, providing a tailor-made service to suit their individual needs. The service will also be available to phone users who have not purchased their service via the Carphone Warehouse.
"Mviva is looking to create an indispensable Web portal environment for all WAP phone users," commented Mat Taylor, chief technology officer, Mviva. "Over the next twelve months only the very best portals will survive in this increasingly competitive Internet environment. With this in mind, it was essential that we find an e-business infrastructure that will provide us with competitive advantage. Bluestone's Total-e-Server enables us to keep up with not only the most recent technological advancements, but also provides us with the scalability to grow our business to meet customer demand."
"WAP and m-commerce are two of the most important Internet developments," said Steve Bale, UK MD and head of EMEA operations at Bluestone. "Europe's population of mobile phone users is significant and growing all the time. Bluestone believes that a portal environment that targets this band of users can offer a unique portfolio of services and build a loyal following. To have Bluestone technology providing the e-business infrastructure for such a portal, acts as an important endorsement of the strength of our technology. We look forward to participating in Mviva's success."
"Mviva selected Bluestone's Total-e-Server ahead of other offerings on the market, as it has proven its ability to provide maximum performance for any Web-enabled business. The technology has a number of essential features including fault tolerance, Internet Quality of Service(TM) and Hot Versioning(TM), to provided Mviva with the most comprehensive and fully integrated e-business environment available. Total-E-Server is based on Sun Microsystems' J2EE and utilizes XML for internal communications and external integration.
