Orange loses in Norway Posted: 30-Nov-2000 [Source: Financial Times] [Orange now looking to Sweden's licensing results due December 16.] by Maija Pesola, London -- "Norway's communications ministry on Wednesday said it would award third generation mobile phone licences to Telenor, the Norwegian state-owned carrier; Netcom, the Norwegian mobile phone company recently bought by Sweden's Telia; Norwegian company Tele2; and Broadband Mobile, a joint venture between Finland's Sonera and Norwegian Enitel. "Orange, the UK mobile phone operator owned by France Telecom, did not receive a licence despite being seen as a likely winner. The company is also seeking a licence in a beuaty contest in Sweden, the results of which are due on December 16.
