Qualcomm, Hansol form fund for Korean startups

[Partnership to invest in companies engaged in CDMA technology.]

"Qualcomm, pioneer and world leader of CDMA-based wireless technology, yesterday announced the formation of a $60 million Korean partnership fund with Hansol i Ventures Co., Ltd. to invest in Korean venture firms engaged in the development of CDMA products.

"It is the largest venture fund created in Korea to date, the two companies said.

"The U.S. firm is the largest investor in the fund and will raise 50 percent of the $60 million. The rest will be supplied by Hansol i Ventures, a subsidiary of the Hansol group, Small and Medium Business Administration of Korea and Korean Teacher's Pension Fund.
