[LG makes inroads into the Italian mobile market.]

"LG Electronics has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a global Italian telecommunications company to export W-CDMA (wideband code division multiple access)-based IMT 2000 technology, officials said yesterday.

"The deal also involves LG Electronics exporting technology solutions related to RNC, Radio Network Controller, a core part of third generation mobile service systems, to Marconi Mobile of Italy.

"Under the deal, LG will also establish and run a trial service of its own IMT-2000 test bed in Genoa, Italy. The two companies have also agreed to cooperate in product development and overseas marketing
