Washington D.C. -- "Bidding for valuable U.S. wireless licenses surpassed the $1 billion mark after a seventh auction round on Friday with Verizon Wireless offering the most followed by Northcoast Communications LLC, the Federal Communications Commission said.

"The latest round produced 884 bids offering $1.35 billion for the 422 licenses the FCC began auctioning off to the highest bidder earlier this week.
