Schaumburg, Ill. -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT), a global leader in wireless handset manufacturing, announced today an agreement with wireless communications provider Alltel (NYSE:AT) to provide Alltel with the first delivery of Motorola's new V.series(tm) 60c handset. The phone is the first with voice recognition and dialing to be offered by Alltel, and is expected to be available in select markets beginning in April.

Motorola's V.series 60c, a CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) phone, is a sleek, compact device designed with the style-conscious and technology-savvy consumer in mind. In addition to its elegant good looks, including anodized aluminum housing, the phone boasts advanced features such as convenient voice recognition and dialing; as well as an external display for caller-ID, time and date, SMS, a WAP 1.1 microbrowser and Motorola's newly redesigned user interface. Premiering earlier this year at the 2001 Consumer Electronics Show, the phone was recently presented to nominees in the categories of directing and acting at this year's Academy Awards. The phone is also featured in Alltel's current advertising campaign with superstar Faith Hill.

"We are pleased to provide our partner Alltel with the opportunity to be the first to offer its customers our new product which delivers the ideal blend of top of the line quality, cutting-edge design and advanced technology," said Tim Cawley, corporate vice president and general manager, North America Region, Motorola, Inc. "We're confident that by working with Alltel, a proven expert in wireless communications services, we can bring the true benefit of this product to consumers."

"Our customers expect us to consistently provide them with the latest in technology and design. Motorola's new handset helps us deliver in both areas," said Philip E. Junker, executive vice president of marketing for Alltel. "The voice recognition and dialing feature makes calling someone easier than ever before. Customers also will find that Motorola's V.series 60c is a simpler and much more powerful tool to access Web Unwired - Alltel's wireless Internet service."
