[DoCoMo announces three new handsets compatible with its 3G "FOMA" service set to commercially launch October 1 in Japan.]

Tokyo -- NTT DoCoMo, Inc. announced today it will begin selling handsets that are compatible with its third-generation "FOMA" mobile communication service from October 1, 2001. NTT DoCoMo previously said that it would launch fully commercialized FOMA service from the same date.

The handset models to go on sale are: "FOMA N2001," "FOMA P2101V" and "FOMA P2401." The terminals, along with data card/connection cable, will be sold at DoCoMo Shops located within the FOMA service area. The service area comprises a 30-kilometer radius within central Tokyo.
