"LG Electronics, a major electronics maker, yesterday unveiled high-color handset models, opening a new chapter in the high-end, multimedia mobile phone market.

"LGE's new models - CX-400K and LG-SD1000 - boast 65,536 colors (256 x 256), the highest resolution so far in the domestic market where 256 color models are the norm.

"Compared with existing STN LCD models, the new handsets support better color features that could appeal to wireless multimedia content users," LGE said in a statement.

"The two models, which will hit the market later this month, have adopted a 16 polyphony ring tone system, while sporting a call-ready time of up to 170 hours.
