Italy's 3G telecom players stick to plans for yr-end launch - report
Posted: 29-Jul-2002 [Source: Ananova]

[Italian carriers continue to look at 3G launch dates later this year.]

"Telecom Italia Mobile SpA, Vodafone PLC's Omnitel, ENEL SpA's Wind and Hutchison Whampoa Ltd's H3G intend to launch third generation services by the end of the year, La Repubblica said.

The report on Saturday, citing company sources and analysts, followed Telefonica SpA's decision to freeze its overseas 3G investments, including those in Italy via its Ipse licence holder.

H3G was quoted as saying it plans to launch its services in the third quarter of this year when it expects to have a large quantity of terminals under agreements with Motorola and NEC."
