RealNetworks, Inc. announced that Ericsson Mobile Platforms has licensed the media engine powering the award-winning RealOne Player, the Helix(tm) DNA Client, as well as the industry standard RealAudio and RealVideo codecs. Ericsson will optimize RealNetworks' technology for high quality digital media playback on mobile devices using the Ericsson reference design. By integrating these applications in current and next generation wireless devices, manufacturers are able to provide consumers access to the wide array of Internet multimedia content available today.

Today the Helix DNA Client supports RealAudio, RealVideo, MP3, MPEG-4, AAC, AMR, H.263 and SMIL file formats and is currently available on Windows, Macintosh and Linux, as well as the leading wireless platforms: Linux, OpenWave, Palm and Symbian. Additional porting projects are under development for the Solaris, HP-UX, WinCE, iTRON, VxWorks and PSOS operating systems.
