[Siemens to equip T-Mobile's Czech subsidiary with W-CDMA equipment and Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa with equipment for its 3G UMTS network in the Warsaw area.]
Siemens AG Information and Communication Mobile division (Siemens mobile) will equip the Czech subsidiary of T-Mobile International with third-generation wireless network technology. An agreement to this effect has just been signed with T-Mobile Czech Republic. Siemens mobile will deliver and install radio and switching technology for the construction of the 3G/Wideband-Code-Division Multiple-Access, or W-CDMA, network in the Czech Republic. In a first phase, T-Mobile wants to cover the greater Prague area.
Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (PTC) also selected Siemens to supply equipment for a third-generation UMTS network in the Warsaw area. It completed the decision making process after considering offers for the supply of equipment from several vendors and will use this process for future 3G supplier selections. PTC is the only company in Poland to have already presented solutions for 3G telephony in 2001 and 2002. At that time it presented successive possibilities for services implementation, from voice transmission to live video broadcast.
