[Siemens Mobile to install Mobile Smart Proxy 3.0 in southeastern China providing 100 million China Mobile subscribers the ability to access the mobile Internet.]

Munich -- China Mobile Communications Corporate Ltd. (China Mobile), the largest mobile provider, has awarded Siemens Information and Communication Mobile (Siemens mobile) the contract to set up a WAP gateway installation. With "Mobile Smart Proxy", the company will implement what is currently the world's second-largest WAP installation in the provinces of Guangdong, Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Sichuan in the southeastern part of China. In future more than 100 million mobile phone users will be able to use mobile internet applications via Mobile Smart Proxy.

Mobile Smart Proxy 3.0 allows China Mobile's mobile subscribers to securely access information on the internet, download images, ring tones, and Java applications, or use online games via their mobile phones. The system capacity of the Siemens WAP gateway enables more than 2400 transactions per second - in comparison, the worldwide average is less than 100 transactions per second. The capacity of the Siemens solution can also be upgraded at any time. Moreover, China Mobile can charge the data content for prepaid customers flexibly and in real time. Both features are important prerequisites for further increasing the use and attractiveness of the mobile data services.
