Posted: 14-Jul-2004 [Source: The Korea Herald]

[New 3-MP camera phone module developed by Pantech & Curitel to debut on two of their new phones set for release later this month, the PH-K1000V and the PH-S5000V.]

By Kim Tong-hyung -- "The new module is integrated with a CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensor that reduces overall power consumption by 80 percent compared to the conventional CCD (charged coupled device) camera modules.

The module is also the first of its kind that is designed to work with a mechanical shutter, giving the user wider options on shutter speed while enhancing close-range performance."
