Posted: 16-Aug-2004 [Source: Linguit]

[Want to know when Madonna was born? Ask Nuggets via SMS and get an auto response within seconds.]

Edinburgh, UK -- The young language technology company Linguit GmbH has announced the UK-wide launch of Nuggets, its fully automatic question answering service for mobile phone users based on SMS technology which is popular in the UK and the rest of Europe.

Nuggets, when sent text messages like "ASK When was Madonna born?", "ASK What does CPR stand for?", "ASK Do male kangaroos have bags?" or "ASK Who wrote 'Das Glasperlenspiel'?" searches Internet indices and uses techniques from Natural Languages Processing (NLP) to find answers. A question sent to 88600 via SMS gets answered for a fee by the software within seconds. The Nuggets service is intended to empower mobile users, who might not have Internet access by other means.
