Mobile Tech News -- Sprint PCS Vision subscribers can now enjoy the fun antics of Charles Schulz's Peanuts characters on Sprint handsets in brilliant color through the latest offering from FunMail's Mobile Comics Network (MCN). Sprint customers can quickly and easily download the FunMail Peanuts Comics application to their handsets to receive a daily comic from the "best of" anthology in the comic's in-box. Customers can scroll through the comics at their own pace, clip their favorites to a virtual scrapbook, and rate them for a community-selected "Top Ten" list. Sprint customers can access Peanuts Comics from the Sprint PCS Vision home page on their handset by selecting downloads/applications/comics. A subscription costs $1.99 per month.
Digital Orchid Inc. and eMbience Inc. today announced that NASCAR.COM TO GO wallpaper and ringtones were recently made available for QUALCOMM's BREW solution. NASCAR.COM TO GO wallpaper and ringtones enable fans to personalize their cell phones to reflect their passion for NASCAR, and connect them to their favorite sport.
Karrier Communications announced the shipment of its new IntelliGolf(R) Birdie edition golf scoring software for Sony Ericsson P800, P900, and P910 smartphones. The IntelliGolf Birdie edition is the only golf software for Symbian OS-based smartphones to include 1) on-course golf scoring and wagering, 2) Windows-based desktop software, and 3) Synchronization software all-in-one. IntelliGolf is immediately available from resellers listed at www.intelligolf.com. List price: $39.95. Golfers use the included IntelliGolf smartphone software to automate 'on course' golf scoring, wagering, and statistics gathering for their entire foursome. Hole-by-hole scores, wagers, and basic statistics can be viewed at any time on the P800/900/910. After the Round, IntelliGolf's new synchronization software uploads results to the included Windows-based desktop software. Color performance charts and graphs, detailed statistics, and handicap projections can be viewed on any Windows-based PC. The IntelliGolf Birdie edition now supports wireless and desktop access over 19,250 digital scorecards via the Internet. Each 18-hole scorecard includes hole yardages, par ratings, hole handicaps, and course information. Scorecards can be downloaded from the IntelliGolf database to the included desktop software and then synchronized to the golfer's smartphone. This saves users up to 300 key stokes per Round. Course downloads are free to IntelliGolf customers. Competing products charge up to $19.95 per course download. Manual scorecard entry is a thing of the past with IntelliGolf.

GoComics is releasing two new services powered by UIEvolution technology: GoComics Daily and GoComics Wallpapers. GoComics Daily delivers daily comic strips featuring Garfield, FoxTrot, The Duplex, Pooch Cafe, Stone Soup, and Red and Rover. Those are the same comic strips as in today's newspapers, but offered in full color. This new entertainment application is available for both BREW and Java platforms, and is being released first on Sprint PCS and Verizon in the US, with new outlets to be announced shortly.
GoComics and UIEvolution are also releasing GoComics Wallpapers on Verizon and other BREW carriers. This application lets you browse and buy hundreds of fun wallpapers from GoComics, to personalize your mobile phone with your favorite comic characters.
