[Swiss company Esmertec and MontaVista Software of California are teaming up to provide a Java-Linux software open platform solution for mobile phones.]

Duebendorf,-Zurich, Switzerland and Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Esmertec and MontaVista Software have entered into a strategic alliance to provide Java-Linux software platform solutions for mobile phones.

Esmertec's Jbed(TM) Advanced multitasking J2ME-platform atop MontaVista Linux Consumer Electronics Edition, delivers a fully optimized, open, reliable and interoperable solution for mobile handset and wireless semiconductor vendors.

"The integration of MontaVista's premier embedded Linux operating system and Esmertec's high-performance Java platforms provides a scalable solution, that delivers highly customizable features and rich user experiences," said Christophe Francois, Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing, Esmertec.
