Court TV has launched its network feed on SmartVideo, marking the network's first 24-hour distribution on an alternative platform. SmartVideo, a subscriber-based service that provides full motion TV and VOD to cellular phones, currently offers Court TV News(SM) clips and legal updates, and VOD of Court TV: Seriously Entertaining(SM) primetime programming, in addition to this new 24-hour service. In the coming months, SmartVideo plans to launch a 24-hour Court TV: News channel with programming coming solely from the network's daytime line-up.
The SmartVideo deal is the network's first foray into the mobile video market, which helps to extend the brand and make Court TV available anywhere, anytime and on any platform. The network's goal is to provide additional services to loyal viewers.
"Launching our network feed on a mobile service provider like SmartVideo further reinforces the fact that Court TV is available anywhere and at anytime," said Claire Cowart, Senior Vice President, New Media Ventures. "As we move into the future with the growth of mobile and broadband services, our viewers expect to find Court TV on these platforms and we will meet these expectations on every level."
